Understand differences of bathroom vanity design. Choose the best combination for your bathroom.

The bathroom, compared to other spaces in a home, features much more functions, such as dumping, bathing, and dressing. As all these actions are related to water, bathroom storage needs to be seriously considered. The key point of perfect vanity is choosing the proper construction and material. In this quick read, you will learn the differences between various layouts and materials of vanity, which could help you make the right choice for your bathroom design. Here we go.

Choose Your Vanity Design

Vessel Vanity & Wall-mount Vanity

Basically, there are 2 types of vanity in the market depending on how the cabinet is installed.

Vessel Vanity means the cabinet does not need to be fixed on the wall or floor, which you can simply replace without worrying about complicated removal. Furthermore, this vanity usually has more space for storage as it does not need to be installed on the wall. But one thing you need to notice is that the legs of the cabinet may be corroded by the “wastewater” after showering or cleaning. Therefore, by using vessel vanity, great ventilation and drainage are essential conditions to prevent the legs from corrosion or rust.

Wall-mount Vanity, also known as floating vanity, literally means the cabinet needs to be installed on the wall. As it is above the floor, you do not have to worry too much about the moisture problem. Moreover, against the wall, this kind of vanity presents a beautiful appearance because it can hide water pipes connected to the faucet. The weakness of the wall-mount vanity shall be the limited storage capacity. Without support by cabinet legs, this cabinet cannot load too many items.

According to your actual need, choose your suitable type of vanity.

Choose Your Vanity Materials

Particle Board is an eco-friendly and sturdy material composited by wood particles and glue. Quality material at a reasonable price is perfect for carcase panel and shelf board inside the cabinet.

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is similar to particle board, but it is stronger and denser. The advantage of this kind of material is the flexibility, which means it can be carved into multiple shapes for a beautiful door panel.

Plywood consists of various wood veneers glued together for layered performance. This material is sturdy enough to resist scratch and bump, owing to its unique structure. Also, it is one of the most popular materials for bathroom vanity because it is not easy to expand or deform by humidity and moisture.

Choose Your Sink Design

Above Counter Sink, also called countertop sink or vessel sink, is really easy to mount and replace. There are plenty of shapes of this sink to choose from. If you love the DIY bathroom, it is a perfect choice. However, daily maintenance might be a trouble that you have to clean the interior and exterior of the sink.

Under Mount Sink is a sink or basin installed underneath the countertop. Usually, there is no gap between the countertop and sink, which makes it really easy to maintain. But the installation is slightly complex, and you may need a professional to help.

Integrated Sink means the sink is directly built into the countertop from the same material. It is a seamless sink to show exclusive aesthetics, making the entire bathroom luxurious. Due to the unique design, this kind of sink usually needs to be customized, which may cost a lot and be hard to replace and repair.
